Congratulations to Heidi Axcell!

Heidi Axcell left her job in Washington to relocate to California. While looking for a new position, she took the downtime between jobs … not to travel, not to rest and get settled in … but instead she jumped into a full-time volunteer role at a local homeless shelter. Her and a team of volunteers served more than 21,000 meals to 700 people!

She now works at Ultimate Staffing in Cerritos, CA as a Business Solutions Manager. “While I was interviewing her, I was amazed at her passion for making the world a better place. I knew then that I would be nominating her as a Roth Hero!” said Branch Manager Sonya Suon.

Heidi is a “big sister” to an at-risk youth through Big Brothers, Big Sisters. She served as a companion through Meals on Wheels to a widow who recently lost her husband of 50 years. For the past decade, she has been a pen pal to young people in an area of Africa considered to have one of the highest mortality rates.

Her list of volunteer work is actually too long to list here and reaches every population of person… and every type of creature. She has volunteered, built shelters and donated to several animal rescue groups including Pigs Peace.

Her next goal is to earn her EMT certificate so that she can apply it to future volunteer opportunities. Her positive and boundless energy is contagious. She is a hero in every sense of the word. It is an honor to recognize Heidi Axcell as our Roth Everyday Hero.
