For Kameko Ogg, breakdancing isn't just a hobby; it requires discipline, dedication, and passion… all the same characteristics that make her a great community service champion and mentor to dozens of young kids in her dance troupe!
Kameko works out of the Torrance, California branch office of Ultimate Staffing Services (a business line of Roth Staffing Companies) by day and dedicates her spare time to Culture Shock, an elite dance group that helps kids in underserved communities utilize dance and music to express creativity, enhance self-esteem, and learn teamwork, independence, and responsibility.
Her greatest impact is her role as a Troupe Buddy(role model/mentor) to several kids. She not only plans fun bonding events like shopping outings and sleepovers, but also checks on their schoolwork and helps develop their dance skills.
Kameko has even promised her mentee of four years that she would remain with Culture Shock until the girl turned 18 – that's 10 years from now!
As Artistic Director, Kameko devotes more than 16 volunteer hours every single week including 10 hours every Sunday. She is responsible for organizing events, teaching choreography, fundraising, and completing community service projects. Throughout the past six years, she's devoted hundreds of hours to everything from spearheading Culture Shock's administrative needs to teaching the organization's mission and core values to members.
Kameko's compassion and dedication have helped countless children gain self-esteem, excel in school, and accomplish things in their life they never thought possible!
