Breast Cancer Survivor Selected as Roth Staffing Companies’ “Roth Hero of the Week”

Ultimate Staffing Coworker Cece Sisneros is the third Roth Hero of the Week.  Roth Staffing Companies bestowed the honor upon Cece, a Team Lead out of the Oxnard, CA branch office of Ultimate Staffing (a specialized business line of Roth Staffing), for her efforts to support the fight against breast cancer after surviving the disease herself at age 29.

Roth Staffing Companies created the Roth Heroes program to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary in August, and to recognize 20 of the remarkable coworkers, customers, and Ambassadors (the temporary employees who represent Roth Staffing Companies) who humbly and passionately serve their communities.

Cece beat breast cancer while raising two young daughters, and then dedicated herself to mentoring those around her; she signed up to be a buddy for a cancer support group, participates in the annual Revlon Run/Walk for Women—a fundraising and awareness event—and arranged her oncologist to speak to Roth Staffing’s coworkers about cancer awareness and prevention.

Cece has also made an impact on an individual level. After discovering that a mother from her daughter’s soccer team was struggling to fight cancer without a support system, Cece became her rock.  Another friend’s three-year-old son was diagnosed with leukemia and Cece didn’t hesitate to attend doctors’ appointments to support the single mom and her child.

In April 2014, five years since her own diagnosis, Cece learned that her 30-year-old fellow Ultimate Staffing coworker was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Cece has been by her side every step of the way, giving advice and guidance, attending hospital visits, arranging fundraisers for impending medical bills, and providing much-needed moral support.

“I am extremely honored to be named a Roth Hero,” says Cece.  “However, it’s not about the personal recognition; I am hopeful that people will read my story and realize that cancer can happen to anyone at any time—whether you’re 50 or only 29, like in my case—and that preventative measures like self-exams and regular doctor check-ups are essential.  An early diagnosis can make a huge difference, and if my recognition as a Roth Hero causes someone to make a lifesaving doctor’s appointment, it’s worth it!”

Roth Staffing Companies is accepting Roth Heroes nominees until August 2014.  All Ambassadors, customers, and coworkers who make a difference in their communities are eligible to earn recognition and a $1,000 cash prize.
