June 2022 Job Report: U.S. Economy added 372,000 jobs

The June 2022 Jobs Report continues to see the unemployment rate unchanged at 3.6%. According to the most recent report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), payroll employment increased by 372,000 and the number of unemployed people is at 5.9 million. 

Unemployment remains unchanged from April 2022 at 3.6% in June 2022 

The unemployment rate for college-degreed professionals 25 years and older rose slightly from 2.0% in May to 2.1% in June. Job seekers with some college or an associate degree saw a decrease in unemployment from 3.4% in May to 3.1% in June. 

Professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and health care saw notable gains. 

Jobs added by industry: 

  • Professional and Business Services: 74,000 jobs added 
  • Leisure and Hospitality: 67,000 jobs added 
  • Health Care: 57,000 jobs added 
  • Transportation and Warehousing: 36,000 jobs added 
  • Manufacturing: 29,000 jobs added  

Wage growth rose by 10 cents in June 2022

According to the report, average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls rose by 10 cents or 0.3% to $32.08. Over the past 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 5.1%.
